To bee or not to bee

Last month – When the Mads came charging wildly into the house on 3 legs, yelping at the top of her lungs, I instantly knew what had happened. Bee. Probably a honey bee, but most likely a bumblebee (her favorite). I did a quick scan of where she had been nosing around outside and there, on the ground, was something that I never thought she would be dumb enough to mess with – a wasp. Poor thing looked like it had been westie-slapped, repeatedly.

What shall it be? Vet or Google? The temptation to run to the vet was great, but the option of applying a mix of baking soda and water to the affected area was easier. Judging from where she was frantically licking, it was her paw pad so just to be sure, I covered her entire paw with the stuff and secured a plastic bag around it (much to her annoyance). In 2 hours she was good as new and back out on the terrace. I hope she learned a lesson.

Forgive me for not posting more often but with this gorgeous weather, me and the dynamic duo have been spending all our time outdoors with the birds and the bees. Easter is looking to be a nice one so I wish you all a Buona Pasqua!
