Vaffe what? Today is Waffle Day in Sweden (Americans must patiently wait their turn on August 24th) and I’ve been looking forward to this date in order to make something that MotH has never had in his life – a chicken & waffle dinner. I don’t think waffles will take over Italy like cheesecake, plumcake, and muffins, but for the desperate, you can find them in the frozen section or prepackaged (gross) in the bakery section at supermarkets.
There used to be a Belgian Waffle hole-in-the-wall shop in the underground corridor of the Metrò Duomo stop, just outside the Rinascente basement exit. Don’t know if it’s still there…

I’ll remember to check that out just in case they’re still there. Mention la Rinascente and my ears perk up!

Would love this fad to start here too, “hawaiian” pancakes are all the rage here at the moment

Hawaiian as in….with spam or portuguese sausage? Or coconut and macadamia nut syrup? We’ve been digging into waffles for our Sunday breakfasts – I love my new waffle maker!

They put tons of fruit, whipped cream, sometimes the macadamia sauce and call it “hawaiian”, plus lots of hawaii eateries (eggs n things, bogart’s, cinnamon’s) have shops throughout japan…
