Giorni della merla is right on target

Weather sites were all abuzz this past week in anticipation of what’s traditionally regarded as the coldest days of the year: January 29, 30, and 31 – the legendary Giorni della Merla. I wrote about it in The Three Days of the Blackbird, and I have to say that 2014 is punctual!

This morning it was -0°C, the coldest since the start of this month. I know it’s really nothing (see how much this ex-kama’aina has adapted?) but while we await the predicted snow, I will just keep calm and drink hot beverages. How cold is it where you are?

Ready and waiting for the big snow predicted for giorni della merla.

It’s 54 degrees here and I love it! I’m hoping our cold cold days are over but we have to survive February! Hot beverages are yummy to keep ya warm and toasty! Sending warm Hugz your way! Lisa and Bear

We are having one of the warmest Januaries in a long time. In fact, we haven’t had a drop of rain…and we will be up a creek if we don’t get any. There hasn’t even been any snow in the mountains! The governor is talking about rationing water – ugh! Hopefully the skies will open up and give us some of that “liquid sunshine.” But you know, as much as I know we need the rain, I am loving this warm and clear weather.

No snow in the mountains….that’s not good at all. I remember having to comply with water rationing several summers ago. From 11pm to 5am it was no water for anyone.

20°C in the house! Unless I start the wood stove, it’s about 17° during the day (with no sun). I hope it neither snows or rains because we wanted to head into Milan this weekend.
