Changing the clock and first snow!

Well I’d say that it was a good call to cancel today’s sagra plans, and as I type this the flakes are still falling at a steady pace. It’s an early snow this year! The temperature outside is 43°F – not cold enough for the white stuff to stick around – but the mood is set with a nice fire burning in the wood stove and knowing that we have an extra hour to sleep tonight. This is perfect chestnut-roasting weather!

Chestnut tip: I find that peeling them as soon as they come out of the oven (but cooled enough to handle) is best. You won’t have as much of a problem with the thin paper-like skins sticking to the chestnuts.

Let me tell you that it took a lot of willpower to refrain from eating these as I peeled them. It’s even worse with the dogs around because they LOVE chestnuts and eat them raw or cooked. They just sit there and stare at me until I give in.
